The Ogun State House of Assembly has commended the Office of the Head of Service for its professionalism, prompt service delivery, and strategic role as the engine of government, noting that its performance is central to effective governance across the State.
The commendation came from members of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, during a session where the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, alongside other agencies under his office, presented and defended the 2026 budget proposals.
The lawmakers acknowledged the various reforms and programmes introduced by the Office of the Head of Service, aimed at enhancing service delivery and promoting good governance. They called for increased funding to strengthen the office’s capacity and support the effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities in the upcoming fiscal year.
Responding, Mr. Onasanya explained that the 2026 budget proposals of his office were anchored on capacity building, intended to deepen ongoing reforms and reinvigorate the civil service for efficiency and improved service delivery.
He added, “The State Civil Service will be marking its 50th anniversary next year. The good news is that through socio-economic reforms and programmes, Ogun State has transformed from a traditional civil service State to an industrialised one.”
Mr. Onasanya further commended Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his visionary leadership, which has positioned the State as a preferred investment destination through infrastructure development and investment incentives. He urged all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to approach the budget defense process with transparency, integrity, and accountability, emphasizing that prudent financial management is vital for sustaining public confidence.
In presenting the budget estimates for his office, the Head of Service proposed a total expenditure of ₦1.252 billion, comprising ₦291 million for capital projects, ₦748 million for overhead costs, and ₦212 million for personnel expenditure. The projected revenue target for 2026 stands at ₦9.7 million.
Accompanying Mr. Onasanya were Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishment and Training, Mrs. Lydia Bolaji Fajounbo; her Public Service Reforms counterpart, Mr. Jola Oyeneye mni; Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Soji Adewuyi; Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Dipo Ogunfowora; and his Bureau of State Pension counterpart, Mrs. Arinola Adetayo.
