The Ogun State Executive Council has approved the construction and rehabilitation of seven roads across the three senatorial districts, alongside the completion of a major office complex now renamed “Revenue House,” and confirmed the appointments of traditional rulers in different parts of the state.

The decisions were reached at the Executive Council meeting held on Friday at the Executive Chamber and presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Top among the approvals is the rehabilitation and construction of critical road networks aimed at improving connectivity and stimulating socio economic growth. The projects cut across Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun West.

The approved roads include Molipa Expressway Roundabout to Ibadan Garage along Ejirin–Folagbade Roundabout in Ijebu Ode, Bible College Road in Ota with additional rehabilitation works, Ajaka Road via Awolowo Market in Sagamu, Gbadebo Street and Hospital Road in Ayegbami Sagamu, Okenla Street off Imoru Road in Ijebu Ode, Yemogun Street in Ogere, Ikenne Local Government Area, as well as the reconstruction of the right hand side of Carwash–Moore Junction Road in Adatan, Abeokuta.

The projects are expected to ease traffic congestion, improve access to residential and commercial hubs, and open up communities for increased economic activities.

Council also approved the reconstruction and completion of Block E Office Complex within the State Secretariat, Oke Imosan, Abeokuta, Phase One. The facility has now been renamed “Revenue House.”

According to the government, the complex is designed to provide a conducive working environment for agencies responsible for revenue generation, with the objective of strengthening internally generated revenue and improving operational efficiency across ministries and departments.

In the same vein, the Council confirmed the appointments of several traditional rulers as part of efforts to reinforce grassroots governance and preserve cultural institutions.

Those confirmed include Prince Raheem Afolabi Ogunlaja as the Nloku of Iraye in Remo North Local Government Area, Prince Tajudeen Adeoye Olukunle as the Onisale of Isale, Gbokoto in Yewa North Local Government Area, Prince Obajimi Sunday Olatunji as the Alodo of Ado in Sagamu, Prince Dr Adesegun Adedapo Ogunsola as the Lowa Ibu of Batoro in Sagamu, and Prince Moses Oludotun Fadairo as the Baale of Orile Oko.

The confirmations, government sources say, are in line with the administration’s policy of strengthening traditional institutions as partners in community development, security and social cohesion across the state.
