The Ogun State Government has confirmed that a social media content creator, identified as Mirabel, who recently alleged sexual assault, is safe and currently receiving medical care at a state owned health facility.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, disclosed this after visiting the survivor at the facility. She was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry and the Medical Director of the hospital.

According to her, the visit was to personally assess the survivor’s condition and ensure that appropriate medical and welfare interventions were being provided without delay.

Adeleye stated that the survivor is undergoing comprehensive medical evaluation, clinical procedures and psychosocial support in line with established standards for managing cases of alleged sexual assault. She added that the patient is responding positively to treatment.

She commended the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command for what she described as prompt action immediately the case was transferred to the state. She also lauded the response of the medical team and the State Ministry of Justice for working in coordination to ensure a professional handling of the matter.

“This structured approach is intended to protect the survivor’s welfare while guaranteeing that investigations are conducted professionally, thoroughly and strictly on the basis of verifiable evidence,” Adeleye said.

Reaffirming the government’s stance, the commissioner noted that the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun maintains zero tolerance for sexual and gender based violence.

She stressed that while the government stands firmly with survivors, investigations must remain evidence based, transparent and fair to all parties involved.

“The welfare, dignity and safety of every survivor remains our utmost priority. Whosoever is found wanting will face the full wrath of the law,” she added.

Adeleye urged members of the public to refrain from speculative narratives or sensational commentary that could undermine due process.

She assured that further updates would be communicated at the appropriate time as credible findings emerge from the ongoing investigation.
