The Ogun State Housing Corporation has called for the total implementation of anti land grabbing and foreclosure laws through stronger institutional enforcement, saying the move is necessary to protect government property and strengthen confidence in the housing sector.
The Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Corporation, ESV Michael Akinwale Ojo, made the appeal while appearing before members of the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and Anti Corruption at the Assembly Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta. The Committee is chaired by Hon. Damilare Bello.
Ojo explained that full enforcement of the existing laws would empower the Corporation to effectively implement housing policies, curb illegal occupation of government landed property, improve mortgage recovery processes and create a more secure environment for investors in the state housing sector. According to him, institutional backing remains critical to achieving sustainable property administration.
He maintained that strict application of the anti land grabbing and foreclosure laws would not only safeguard public assets but also boost investor confidence, noting that predictable and enforceable property regulations are central to economic growth.
The General Manager also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as unwavering support and strategic commitment to expanding access to affordable housing across Ogun State. He said the administration’s backing has strengthened the Corporation’s drive to deliver more housing projects to residents.
Earlier, while considering the audit report of the Corporation, the House Committee requested the management to produce its fixed asset register and provide supporting documents on equipment and other items listed in its records.
The Committee also directed the management of D. S. Adegbenro Polytechnic, led by Prof. Goke Rauf, to furnish it with detailed information on a 750 seater lecture hall under construction, alongside other relevant documents contained in its expenditure line.
