The Ogun State Government has announced plans to construct a ₦1 billion Artificial Intelligence powered digital classroom complex at Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, in a move aimed at strengthening technology driven learning in public schools.

Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed this during the 80th anniversary celebration of the school, held within the premises, where he described the project as a strategic investment designed to prepare students for the realities of a fast evolving global knowledge economy.

The governor said the 900 seater ultra modern digital classroom would complement existing smart learning facilities in the school, including a resource centre and a fully equipped robotics laboratory. According to him, the initiative is part of the state’s broader agenda to promote innovation, creativity, and advanced digital skills among students.

“As a first step in providing continuous support, I am pledging the sum of ₦100 million to this institution,” Abiodun said. “To underscore my commitment, I will release 50 per cent of the pledge, ₦50 million, next week. This is not all. I will ensure that before I leave office, we begin and complete at least one of the projects mentioned.”

Abiodun also revealed that the state government has remodelled the school’s science laboratories, equipping them with modern instructional tools to meet contemporary standards and provide safer, more inspiring learning environments for students.

He added that both the boys’ and girls’ hostels have been rehabilitated to improve comfort, safety, and overall student welfare.

Describing Remo Secondary School as a heritage institution, the governor said the anniversary was more than a celebration of years but a reminder of shared responsibility in preserving an enduring legacy.

“We are not just celebrating a school; we are celebrating a living institution,” he stated.

The governor commended the old students’ association for sustaining the school’s history and supporting its development, noting that their contributions reflect a collective commitment to excellence.

“These are not merely assets. They are statements of belief in the future, symbols of our shared sacrifice, and proof of what is possible when vision aligns with commitment,” he said. “I have discovered that this school is far more than a school. It is a heritage institution, collectively owned, nurtured, and sustained by a shared sense of responsibility.”

Abiodun, who disclosed that Remo Secondary School has been designated as one of the state’s flagship schools, urged students to embrace learning with passion, uphold integrity, and strive to live up to the standards set by past generations.
