Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of one person following a violent clash between farmers and herders in Zaki Local Government Area. The incident occurred on 26 November 2025 in Bursali Village when herders from Jigawa State reportedly trespassed onto local farmland, destroying crops and sparking a confrontation with residents.
Command Public Relations Officer, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, stated that the altercation resulted in the death of an unidentified herder. “This regrettable act precipitated a confrontation between the herders and community members, during which one herder was killed,” he said.
Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer of Zaki Division, SP Iliya Dogo, promptly deployed a team of detectives to the area. Five suspects have been arrested, and preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the clash.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, for detailed investigation.
He also urged residents to remain calm, obey the law, and avoid acts of vigilantism.
