The Orunto of Owu Kingdom and Founder of the SixthSense Initiative, Abiodun Lasile, has stressed that corruption will continue to thrive in Nigeria unless citizens are empowered through quality education and collective action.

In a statement on Thursday titled “The Power of Collective Action: A Call to Petition Against Corruption,” Lasile said followers remain in the majority but are often deprived of their strength because of empty promises and petty incentives.

According to him, “Without access to quality education and empowerment, followers often lack the resolve to demand their rights, needs, and basic necessities.”

He described corruption as a “national scourge” that sacrifices the future of the majority for the comfort of a privileged few. “Corruption undermines the right of ordinary people to a good life while looters continue to entertain the public with figures that do not translate into real change,” he stated.

Lasile urged Nigerians to embrace a change of mindset, moving from apathy to activism. “We need to reverse the trend and reclaim our collective voice to fight corruption and build a better future for all. It’s time to move from silence to speaking out,” he said.

He further charged citizens to demand accountability and transparency, warning that unless decisive action is taken, the cycle of poverty and dashed hopes will continue.

“Let’s rise up and demand our rights, needs, and basic necessities rather than clap to the entertainment of figures by looters. The time for change is now. Let’s make it happen,” Lasile added.
