The Ogun State House of Assembly has marked the second anniversary of the leadership of the 10th Legislature with renewed commitment to unity, stability and effective governance, as lawmakers commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, for what they described as transparent and inclusive leadership.

The commendations were made on Thursday during a special plenary session held at the Assembly Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, to commemorate the second year of the change in the Assembly’s leadership.

Taking turns to speak, members of the House praised the Speaker for fostering harmony among lawmakers and creating an atmosphere that encourages productive legislative engagement in the interest of the state.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi, who represents Yewa South State Constituency, applauded her colleagues for maintaining unity of purpose since the emergence of the current leadership.

She described Elemide’s leadership style as transparent and inclusive, noting that it has strengthened trust within the Assembly. Ajayi also appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for his continued support for the legislative arm of government.

In his remarks, the Minority Leader and member representing Odogbolu State Constituency, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, congratulated the Speaker and reflected on what he termed the Assembly’s steady growth in unity and resilience over the past two years.

He urged lawmakers to sustain the momentum and called for stronger legislative independence, while stressing the need for the executive to accord greater priority to resolutions passed by the House.

Adeleye also used the occasion to congratulate Ogun State on its 50th anniversary, paying tribute to the first civilian governor of the state, late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo.

While commending the current administration led by Prince Dapo Abiodun for its strides in education and industrial development, he appealed for increased attention to infrastructural development across the state.

Other lawmakers who spoke during the plenary congratulated the Speaker on the anniversary and pledged their continued support, reaffirming their commitment to effective representation, quality lawmaking and good governance.

Responding, Speaker Oludaisi Elemide expressed gratitude to his colleagues, as well as the management and staff of the Assembly, for their support and solidarity since the inception of his leadership.

He described the confidence reposed in him as a renewed mandate to deepen service delivery to the people of Ogun State.

Elemide listed some of the achievements of the 10th Legislature to include the upgrade and redesign of the Assembly Complex, noting that the improvements were aimed at creating a more conducive environment for legislative work.

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to robust lawmaking, effective oversight of government projects and sustained collaboration with the executive to ensure that legislative resolutions translate into visible development for residents of the state.
