Ogun State lawmaker, Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), has extended his educational philanthropy by paying the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees for 2,000 indigent students across the state.
This follows his earlier payment of Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) fees for 4,000 students.
The disclosure came in a statement signed by High Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola, on 5th March 2026.
According to the statement, the number of beneficiaries could have been higher, but some students were unable to obtain their Learners’ Identification Number (LIN) before the WAEC deadline, which expired on Tuesday night.
Beneficiaries were drawn from 218 schools across Ogun State, including 90 schools from Ogun West, 68 from Ogun East, and 60 from Ogun Central. Abeokuta South and Ado Odo Ota Local Government Areas recorded the highest numbers with 416 and 403 students respectively.
Senator Adeola noted that he learned of the students’ plight through discussions with constituents who commended his free JAMB enrolment initiative.
“Finance must not be an impediment to the educational advancement of my people. I acted immediately to ensure these students could sit for WAEC, and more would have benefitted if I had been briefed earlier,” he said.
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to human capital development through educational infrastructure, scholarships, bursary schemes, and personal philanthropy targeting students whose parents and guardians cannot afford school fees.
School principals from the benefiting institutions expressed gratitude, noting that the intervention prevented some brilliant students from missing their qualifying examinations due to financial constraints.
