The Ogun State Police Command has taken charge of the sexual assault case involving TikTok user Mirabel (@mirab351), after the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed that the alleged incident occurred in Ogun State.
The DSVA said in a statement on Wednesday that it had established contact with a close friend of the survivor, who confirmed she had been discharged from the hospital.
The agency assured the public that all relevant information had been forwarded to the appropriate authorities in Ogun State.
“Following our earlier statement and the widespread public response, we successfully established communication with a close friend of the survivor who confirmed that she had been discharged from the hospital,” the agency said. “All information at our disposal has been forwarded to the Ogun State authorities to ensure proper investigation and support for the survivor.”
The alleged assault reportedly occurred on Sunday, February 15, with the survivor posting about the incident on Monday.
The case sparked a wave of concern online, trending under the hashtag #StopRapingWomen, with thousands calling for urgent action against sexual assault and stronger protections for survivors.
