Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have apprehended a 26-year-old suspect, Abdulrasheed Ibrahim, in connection with a burglary and theft case involving aluminium and electrical wires.

The suspect, who was caught red-handed during a routine night patrol by officers attached to the Iyesi Area Command, was said to have been roaming suspiciously around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 12th June 2025, when he was intercepted.

A statement from the Office of the Corps Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, and signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, confirmed the arrest.

Commander Ganzallo revealed that the suspect was found in possession of large quantities of aluminium and electrical wires, items suspected to have been stolen.

He said, “Our men noticed suspicious movement and upon stopping the individual, they discovered the items. On interrogation, the suspect could not provide any credible explanation regarding ownership or origin.”

Further questioning reportedly led to a confession. Ibrahim admitted to vandalizing a residential property located behind the Winners Chapel fence. He also disclosed that he had been arrested on four prior occasions for similar offences.

Ganzallo expressed concern over the repeat offences and emphasized the Corps’ resolve to deal decisively with threats to public peace.

“We will not allow the efforts made in securing Ogun State to be undone by repeat criminals. This suspect will face the full wrath of the law,” he said.

The suspect and the recovered exhibits have since been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Onipanu Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The So-Safe Commander assured residents of continued vigilance across the state. “The peace we have in Ogun today is not accidental. Our men are working round the clock, and we will ensure that no criminal goes unchecked,” Ganzallo added.
