President Bola Tinubu has ordered a full-scale manhunt for the perpetrators of the recent attack on the Kasuwan Daji market in Niger State, promising that all responsible will be brought to justice.
He also directed security agencies to urgently rescue women and children abducted during the assault.
According to a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President issued the directives on Sunday following reports that terrorists fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara States after U.S. airstrikes on Christmas Eve attacked the market, killing several villagers and abducting numerous others.
“The terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice,” Tinubu declared.
The President sent heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the Government and people of Niger State, describing the attack as a grave affront to the nation’s security and humanity.
Tinubu assured that security agencies have been instructed to intensify operations in vulnerable communities, particularly around forests that serve as hideouts for criminal elements.
He called on Nigerians to remain united, cautioning against divisive rhetoric that could undermine national cohesion during the crisis.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” the President added.
