At least three people sustained injuries in a nighttime crash involving a Toyota Camry, a Suzuki commercial bus, and a tricycle at Iron Market, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The incident, which occurred around 8:20 p.m. on Monday, involved 16 passengers in total.
According to the Divisional Commander of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in Ota, Mr. Salau Hammed, the accident was caused by speeding.
“A Camry car lost control due to excessive speed and rammed into two other vehicles — a Suzuki bus and a tricycle,” Hammed said in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday.
While all 16 occupants in the three vehicles survived the crash, three people — two men and a woman — sustained varying degrees of injuries.
“They were immediately rushed to Adetutu Hospital in the Ilepa area for urgent medical attention,” Hammed added.
The Camry and the tricycle reportedly had no registration numbers, while the Suzuki bus was registered with the number KRD 246 YK.
TRACE officials swiftly removed the vehicles from the road to restore the free flow of traffic in the area.
Mr. Hammed urged drivers to reduce speed and drive responsibly, especially at night. “We continue to warn motorists against speeding, as it remains one of the major causes of road accidents,” he said.
