Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced plans to establish what he described as the largest dairy and cattle ranches in Nigeria in Ipokia and Yewa South Local Government Areas, as part of a renewed push to strengthen food security and agricultural productivity.

The governor disclosed this at the All Progressives Congress Strategic Stakeholders Meeting held at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, where he said the projects were approved at the instance of Tinubu and would commence soon.

Abiodun explained that the proposed facilities would begin operations with about 5,000 herds of cattle, adding that the initiative would deepen agricultural value chains, boost local production, and reduce the country’s dependence on dairy imports.

“The biggest dairy and cattle ranches will soon be established in Yewa South and Ipokia Local Government Areas. This is at the instance of Mr. President. These farms will start with 5,000 herds of cattle, and work will begin very soon,” the governor said.

He commended Tinubu for what he described as bold economic reforms, noting that recent policies have stabilised the foreign exchange market, removed multiple exchange rate regimes, and increased Nigeria’s foreign reserves to about 45 billion dollars.

The governor also praised the President’s goodwill towards Ogun State, citing federal approvals for major projects, including the reconstruction of the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Road, the Eba oil discovery, and the resuscitation of the OKLNG project.

“There is nothing I have asked Mr. President for Ogun State that he has not approved. Whenever investors express interest in Nigeria, he tells them that Ogun State is where they should go,” Abiodun stated.

Abiodun said Tinubu’s leadership has renewed confidence among Nigerians at home and abroad, adding that the performance of the APC led Federal Government has strengthened public trust in the party ahead of future elections.

Reviewing his administration’s record, the governor said Ogun State has made steady progress in education, infrastructure, job creation, healthcare, agriculture, housing, and industrial development over the past six years and eight months.

He disclosed that over 1,700 kilometres of roads have been constructed across the state, more than 7,000 housing units delivered, and over 400 Primary Healthcare Centres upgraded and equipped, while the state is also on the verge of becoming an oil producing state.

Abiodun said the stakeholders meeting was convened to assess progress, engage party members, and strategise ahead of the next political season.

He urged party members to avoid internal conflicts and personal interests as congresses approach, stressing that unity remains key to the party’s success.

“We are entering the electioneering year, a season that demands unity of purpose and discipline. The upcoming congresses must unite us, not divide us. A united APC is an unbeatable APC,” he said.

Party leaders at the meeting included former Governor Olusegun Osoba, Deputy Governor Noimot Salako Oyedele, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, Senators Solomon Adeola and Shuaib Salisu, as well as House of Representatives Chief Whip, Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka.

Others present were the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, Minister of State for Health, Dr. Isiaka Salako, State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, lawmakers, local government chairmen, and other party stakeholders.
