Governor Ademola Adeleke has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for upholding the rule of law, which has enabled the ongoing local government elections across Osun State.
Speaking after casting his vote at his polling unit in Sagba/Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, Ede, Governor Adeleke described Tinubu as a “true democrat with strong democratic credentials” and reaffirmed his administration’s collaborative approach with the federal government.
The governor also dismissed a report falsely attributing negative comments to him about President Tinubu.
He emphasized that he has never spoken against the President, urging the public to disregard the misinformation.
“In my first state broadcast on this matter, I stated clearly: ‘Let me affirm that I know Mr. President to be a true democrat, a lover of rule of law, and a believer in the sanctity of the judicial process. I know, as a matter of fact, that Mr. President will never authorise a dictatorial violation of the constitution irrespective of who is involved. It is crucial to add that Mr. President will never support any action that is capable of generating bloodbath and bloodshed,’” Adeleke said.
He reiterated his stance in a subsequent statement, saying, “We have confidence in the democratic credentials of President Tinubu, who we know will always insist on the rule of law.”
Governor Adeleke urged stakeholders and the public to ignore the misleading report, emphasizing that his focus remains on the democratic process and the successful conduct of the local government elections.
Meanwhile, the governor described the election process as peaceful and seamless, commending the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) for its efforts in organizing a free and fair poll.
“The turnout has been impressive, and I encourage all eligible voters to participate actively without fear or intimidation. This election is a crucial step in strengthening democracy at the grassroots level,” he stated.
