Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, Aliyu Audu, has tendered his resignation from office, bringing an end to his tenure less than two years after his appointment.
In a resignation letter dated June 8, 2025, and addressed to President Tinubu through the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Audu confirmed that his resignation takes immediate effect.
While no reason was stated for his exit, the presidential aide expressed appreciation to the President for the rare opportunity to contribute to national development through public communication efforts under the current administration.
“I remain deeply grateful to you, Mr. President, for the opportunity to serve my fatherland under your visionary leadership,” Audu wrote.
“It has been an honour to contribute to the public communication efforts of this administration.”
He also extended special appreciation to Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, who nominated him for the position despite what he described as their “brief prior acquaintance.”
“I acknowledge with immense gratitude the gesture of Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, who saw potential in me and recommended me for this role. His confidence in my capacity is something I will always value,” he noted.
Audu was nominated for the position on August 26, 2023, and his appointment was officially confirmed by President Tinubu on October 9, 2023.
Though he gave no hint about his future plans, Audu assured the President of his best wishes and support from afar.
“I will continue to pray for the success of your administration and the progress of our dear nation,” the letter concluded.
