Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Ogun West Senatorial District, has declared that the long-standing siege of underdevelopment and marginalization in Yewaland is now a thing of the past.

He made this known while addressing the Third Session of the Twelfth Synod of the Diocese of Yewa, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), held at Rev Fry Memorial Anglican Church, Ishaga-Orile, Ogun State.

Speaking on the Synod’s theme, “The Siege is Broken,” the lawmaker said the district has witnessed significant transformation since his return from Lagos politics and assumption of office as senator two years ago.

“Since my return under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and my synergy with Governor Dapo Abiodun, we’ve brought real development to Yewaland and Ogun West. The waiting is over. The siege has been broken,” Adeola said.

Recounting his journey, Adeola noted that five years ago, while still representing Lagos West, he had been invited to chair a Synod in Ilaro-Yewa. Back then, he said, he was already nursing the desire to return home and serve his people.

“At that Synod in 2021, I was still a senator from Lagos West. It was a season of spiritual and political waiting. Today, by God’s grace and the people’s support, I represent Ogun West. And in just two years, the story has changed,” he added.

According to him, the growth experienced in Ogun West has been unprecedented. He listed completed and ongoing projects including roads, schools, healthcare centres, ICT hubs, police stations, electricity and solar lighting.

He likened the various empowerment programmes under his tenure to the biblical spoils gathered by the Israelites after divine intervention, as referenced in 2 Chronicles 20:25.

“Our mega empowerment schemes are proof of divine victory. Just like the Israelites gathered spoils after God fought for them, we are enjoying the fruits of positive change.”

“Tinubu’s economic reforms subsidy removal, floating the exchange rate, student loans, consumer credit, minimum wage signing have positioned Nigeria for sustainable growth, and we in Ogun West are direct beneficiaries,” he stated.

Senator Adeola also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his visible efforts in infrastructure development across the state, especially in Yewaland.

He cited projects such as the Ilashe-Koko-Alari Road, Imasayi-Ayetoro Road, Ilaro-Owode Road, Afa Bridge in Ipokia, internal and external works at the State Hospital in Ilaro, Oke Ola Road in Imeko, and the ongoing construction of Atan-Lusada-Agbara Road.

“Our people are witnesses. The governor is complementing federal efforts, and the result is clear progress,” he noted.

In his remarks, the Bishop of Yewa Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Michael Oluwarohunbi, applauded Senator Adeola for his infrastructural interventions and empowerment programmes, which he said have changed the narrative for good.

“There is infrastructural revolution in Yewaland courtesy of Yayi. He has brought the first federal university to Ogun West. That’s a clear sign that the siege is broken,” the Bishop said.

The Synod, themed “The Siege is Broken” and attended by church leaders and community stakeholders, became a platform for reflection and celebration of the new direction Ogun West is heading under Adeola’s watch.
