The President of the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, has reaffirmed his commitment to ridding Nigeria of drug abuse, declaring that the foundation remains unshaken in its resolve to ensure a drug-free society.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude, CON (Tegbosun III), the Olowu of Kuta in Osun State on Tuesday, Wahab stated, “We won’t relent until Nigeria is drug-free. It is a national task that demands both courage and consistency, and we are fully committed.”

The visit, which also saw the decoration of Oba Makama as the Royal Grand Patron of the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation in recognition of his long-standing support, leadership and contributions to the foundation’s goals.

Wahab, who led a delegation of his team to the royal palace, praised Oba Makama for his consistent advocacy for youth development, women empowerment, and moral reform in society.

“Your Majesty has been a pillar behind us in the fight against drug abuse, and today’s decoration is a token of our appreciation,” he said.

The foundation also presented The Truth About Drugs awareness booklets and educational discs to the monarch, and unveiled a commemorative plaque honouring him as the Royal Grand Patron.

In his remarks, Oba Makama lauded the foundation’s efforts and stated that it had performed beyond expectations in its campaign to eliminate drug abuse, especially among youths.

He urged the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to extend support to the foundation, saying, “The NDLEA under the leadership of Brigadier General Buba Marwa must work closely with the Dapo Wahab Foundation. What they are doing deserves national collaboration.”

The monarch further acknowledged the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, based in Los Angeles, for supporting the Foundation’s advocacy campaigns in Nigeria.

Wahab, in his vote of thanks, described the royal endorsement as a major encouragement. “Your Majesty’s backing is not just symbolic, it is strategic. It gives our campaign weight and reach. We remain grateful,” he added.

Also present during the visit were key members of the foundation including Mrs. Elizabeth Eweje (Coordinator), Alhaja Mutiat Olafunni Rabiu, Mr. Olalekan Ayobami Ebun Oro, and Mr. Adejola Adeyemi Crown, the Foundation’s Public Relations Officer and founder of Tropic Reporters.

The Foundation also used the event to outline its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the next 12 months, which include sensitizing 500 community members on drug abuse prevention, launching three new initiatives in partnership with NDLEA, training 100 community leaders, and mobilizing N10 million in financial and in-kind support for ongoing programs.

“We are not stopping here. With Oba Makama as our Grand Patron, and the continued involvement of our partners both at home and abroad, we are setting new targets and expanding our reach,” Wahab assured.

He concluded by urging both private and public stakeholders to seize the opportunity and support the foundation in restoring lost values, reforming communities, and saving the future generation from drug addiction.
