Ahead of the Yuletide and New Year celebrations, the Kwara State Police Command has deployed officers to churches, mosques, motor parks, highways, recreational centres and other public spaces across the state to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The deployment was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, who said the security measures were part of the command’s commitment to proactive policing and public safety during the festive period.
According to the statement, officers have been positioned at strategic locations statewide, noting that the move reflects the command’s readiness to maintain peace, order and public confidence before, during and after the celebrations.
“In alignment with the Nigeria Police Force’s nationwide security architecture for the Yuletide season as outlined by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, visibility policing, intelligence led patrols and targeted operations have been intensified across places of worship, markets, recreational and event centres, motor parks, highways and other public spaces,” the statement read.
It added that tactical and specialised units have been placed on heightened alert, with continuous surveillance and raids ongoing in identified black spots and flashpoints across the state.
The command further stated that deployed officers have been directed to remain professional, firm and courteous while carrying out their duties, assuring residents of sustained peace and security throughout the festive season.
“The Kwara State Police Command assures residents of its firm resolve to sustain peace and security before, during and after the festive season and wishes all residents a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, also extended Yuletide greetings to residents of the state, urging them to celebrate responsibly and remain vigilant.
