Top opposition politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, have gathered at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for the unveiling of a new opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The high-level political meeting, which signals a major move ahead of the 2027 general elections, also attracted prominent figures such as former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Dino Melaye, and former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung.

Other key attendees at the event include publisher and PDP chieftain Dele Momodu, Senators Gabriel Suswam and Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, and a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.).

The coalition, which brings together interests from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and other political platforms, is expected to serve as a united opposition front aimed at unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Details of the coalition’s agenda are expected to be unveiled during the ongoing media conference in Abuja, with sources hinting at plans to present a common strategy to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the next polls.
