The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that no fewer than 38 persons lost their lives in road traffic crashes recorded in Gombe State within a 30 day period.
The crashes, which occurred between December 15, 2025 and January 15, 2026, also left 218 people injured, according to the Gombe State Sector Command of the FRSC.
The disclosure was made by the Sector Commander, CC Samson Kaura, in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Route Commander Janet Kassa, and made available to journalists on Sunday.
Kaura said a total of 74 vehicles were involved in the crashes, while 345 persons were affected in the incidents, stressing that many of the injuries sustained ranged from minor to severe.
He assured residents that the Command remained committed to its mandate of ensuring safer roads across the state through sustained patrols, rescue operations and public enlightenment.
The Sector Commander urged motorists to avoid speeding, overloading and the use of mobile phones while driving, adding that strict adherence to traffic rules would significantly reduce road accidents.
Angle Two: Safety warning and public responsibility focus

The warning was contained in a statement released by the Command spokesperson, Superintendent Route Commander Janet Kassa, and made available to journalists in Gombe.
Kaura explained that increased movement during the end of year festivities and the New Year period often leads to higher road traffic activities, with devastating consequences when safety rules are ignored.
He said the FRSC would continue with patrol operations, removal of road obstructions, rescue services and public sensitisation in motor parks and places of worship to reduce crashes.
The Sector Commander reminded road users that safety is a shared responsibility, urging drivers to concentrate behind the wheel, avoid dangerous overtaking and shun all forms of distracted driving.
According to him, compliance with traffic regulations remains the most effective way to prevent avoidable loss of lives on Nigerian roads.
