The Ogun State House of Assembly has re-invited Mr Ayo Bada to appear before it over his failure to honour an earlier invitation to respond to allegations contained in a petition concerning his planned installation as the Olumagbon of Imagbon, Isara-Remo, in Remo North Local Government Area of the state.
The fresh invitation was issued by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, chaired by Hon Jemili Akingbade and represented by Hon Oluseun Adesanya, during the committee’s consideration of a petition titled, “Urgent Appeal to Prevent Breach of Peace over the Unlawful Appointment and Imposition of Mr Ayo Bada as Olumagbon of Imagbon, Isara-Remo.”
The committee directed Bada to appear before it on September 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., warning that failure to honour the invitation could lead to the Assembly taking steps to compel his attendance.
The committee stated that it would not hesitate to invoke the relevant provisions of the Constitution to issue a warrant of arrest if Bada failed to appear before it as directed.
“Failure to honour this invitation will leave the Assembly with no option than to invoke the relevant sections of the Constitution to issue a warrant of arrest to compel your attendance,” the committee warned.
The petition was submitted by the Baales and representatives of the 33 villages that make up Imagbon Community through their solicitors, Onafadeji & Onafadeji.
According to the committee, the petitioners alleged that Bada’s appointment was made without proper consultation with the community.
The petitioners also questioned his eligibility to occupy the Olumagbon stool, prompting the Assembly committee to invite the relevant parties to provide clarification on the matter.
The committee said the petition was an “Urgent Appeal to Prevent Breach of Peace” over what the petitioners described as the “Unlawful Appointment and Imposition” of Bada as Olumagbon of Imagbon.
As part of efforts to get all sides to the dispute before it, the committee also directed the Chairman and Secretary of Remo North Local Government Council to attend the meeting.
Representatives of the Akarigbo of Remoland and the Odemo of Isara were equally directed to appear before the committee on September 1.
The development adds another layer to the ongoing dispute over the proposed installation of the Olumagbon of Imagbon, with the Assembly now seeking explanations from the parties involved in the chieftaincy process.
The committee’s decision to re-invite Bada followed his failure to honour the initial invitation extended to him.
The lawmakers are expected to hear from Bada, the local government representatives and the traditional institutions before taking further steps on the petition.
