The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested four suspected armed robbers following an alleged robbery attack in Oke-Efon, a suburb of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, and signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on Friday, August 28, 2026, at about 3:30pm, when the Divisional Officer of the Bode Olude Division, CSC Ibrahim Tajudeen, received a distress call from members of the Oke-Efon community concerning an ongoing armed robbery operation.
Ganzallo said the Divisional Officer immediately mobilised operatives to the area, where they met a victim who had allegedly been robbed and left with machete wounds along a bush path.
He explained that the victim’s cries attracted passersby, who gathered around the location and subsequently alerted members of the community and security personnel.
The Commander commended the residents for their prompt response and cooperation, saying their intervention contributed significantly to the arrest of the suspects.
He stated, “Some members of the community who were aware that the personnel of the Corps had been alerted, waited for the team’s arrival. Instantly when the team was spotted by the residents, they joined the team to advance and to effect arrest of all the suspects.”
The four male suspects were identified as Muhammed Ibrahim, 35; Umukoro Godfrey, 24; Lawal Azeez, 29; and Ogunbiyi Junior, 20.
Items recovered from the suspects included one cutlass and N17,500 allegedly taken from the injured victim during the robbery.
The statement added that the suspects and recovered exhibits had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Adatan Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Ganzallo also reiterated the importance of timely information from residents, urging members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies to security agencies to help prevent crime and protect lives and property.
