The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission has confirmed the permanent employment of interns under the OgunTeach programme who have completed their mandatory two-year internship.

The Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mr Idowu Onasanya, disclosed this on Tuesday while presenting the commission’s 2026 half-year budget performance before the Ogun State House of Assembly in Abeokuta.

Onasanya appeared before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, alongside the Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Babatunde Tella, and other lawmakers.

He said the decision to absorb the interns followed the completion of their two-year mandatory internship programme, adding that another batch of OgunTeach interns expected to complete their programme by December would also be considered for permanent employment.

“Those who have just completed the mandatory two-year internship programme have been permanently employed, while another batch that will complete theirs by December will also be considered for permanent employment,” Onasanya said.

The Permanent Secretary also disclosed that the commission had concluded the promotion exercises for teaching service staff for 2023 and 2024.

According to him, preparations are ongoing for the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, subject to the approval of the state government.

On recruitment, Onasanya said preparations had commenced for the 2027 recruitment exercise, noting that the commission remained committed to strengthening the state’s teaching workforce.

The budget appraisal formed part of the ongoing exercise by the Ogun State House of Assembly to assess the implementation of the 2026 Appropriation Law by Ministries, Departments and Agencies across the state.

The lawmakers also interfaced with the management teams of Abraham Adesanya ICT Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, led by its Deputy Rector, Dr Sherifat Akindele, and D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, represented by its Bursar, Mr Julius Ayodele.

The Ministry of Forestry and the Forestry Plantation Project, Area J4, were among other agencies whose budget performances were also reviewed by the lawmakers.
