The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Adam Muhammed, and recovered a motorcycle and a generator allegedly stolen in Itori, headquarters of Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest followed a tip-off from a motorist who spotted an unregistered tricycle conveying the items along the Onigbedu- Itori Road on Sunday morning.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
According to Babaseyi, the motorist, at about 7:30 a.m., sighted an unregistered tricycle carrying a grey Haojue Lady motorcycle and a Firman generator, with two passengers on board.
Suspecting that the items might have been stolen, the motorist alerted the police while trailing the tricycle towards Complex Junction, Itori, along the Papalanto route.
Babaseyi said police operatives responded swiftly to the information and intercepted the tricycle.
He explained that the two occupants attempted to flee on sighting the operatives, but Muhammed was apprehended after a hot chase, while his alleged accomplice escaped.
The police spokesman added that preliminary investigations had linked the recovered motorcycle and generator to a reported theft in Itori.
He said the suspect remained in police custody as detectives intensified investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt response, noting that timely intelligence and effective policing were essential to preventing crime and protecting lives and property.
Ojajuni also praised the motorist for demonstrating vigilance and civic responsibility, saying the information provided enabled the police to intervene and recover the suspected stolen items.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive patrols, prompt responses to credible intelligence and efforts to prevent criminal activities across the state.
The police commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies, stressing that timely information from members of the public could help prevent crime and facilitate the arrest of suspects.
