The final rites for Comrade Abdulraheem Tunde Oladunjoye, Late Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, will take place on Sunday, April 20, 2025, in his hometown of Ijebu-Itele, in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Oladunjoye died on Friday, April 4, 2025, at a hospital in London after a brief illness. He was 58 years old.

His daughter, Rukayat Oladunjoye, announced the burial arrangements on behalf of the family. “With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the burial and Fidau prayer for our father, husband, and brother, Abdulraheem Olatunde Oladunjoye,” the statement read.

The Janazah (funeral prayer) is scheduled to hold at the Ijebu-Itele Central Mosque at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, after which the body will be taken to his residence in Ijebu-Itele for interment.

According to the family, the Fidau prayer will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Primary School, Ijebu-Itele. They prayed that “Allah grants him Jannatul Firdaus and comforts the family he leaves behind.”

Earlier, a well-attended tribute session was held in his honour by the Civil Society Coalition in collaboration with his friends and associates under the banner of the Coalition of Activists and Tunde’s Organisations (CATO). The event took place at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The memorial lecture was delivered by veteran journalist and human rights activist, Richard Akinola. Reflecting on Oladunjoye’s life, Akinola described him as a man of principle. “Tunde was not just a spokesman; he was a voice for justice and the people. His death is a big loss to the pro-democracy movement,” he stated.

A dedicated 56-member burial planning committee has been actively coordinating logistics to ensure the ceremonies are dignified and well organized.

Family, friends, and associates across Nigeria continue to mourn the loss while celebrating the legacy of a man who stood firmly for justice, service, and humanity.
