The Federal Government has distanced itself from a viral letter making the rounds on social media, purportedly announcing a recruitment exercise into Nigeria’s paramilitary services.
In a statement dated June 10, 2025, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) clarified that the recruitment process has not commenced, despite receiving Presidential approval for new personnel intake across the four paramilitary services under its purview.
Signed by the Secretary to the Board, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) A.M. Jibril, the statement emphasized that the board remains committed to a transparent, fair and official recruitment procedure that will be publicly advertised through recognized national newspapers.
“The attention of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has been drawn to a letter in circulation on the social media with respect to its recruitment process,” the statement read.
“It is important to inform the general public that though there is a Presidential approval for the recruitment of personnel in the four (4) Paramilitary Services under its purview, there are series of processes which lead to the actual recruitment exercise,” it added.
Reaffirming its stance on due process, the board stated: “The Board wishes to reiterate that for all its recruitment processes, appropriate notifications would be done via adverts in the national dailies and it would be carried out in a fair and transparent process devoid of payment of any fee.”
The Board also cautioned the public against falling victim to job scammers and fraudulent recruiters who exploit desperate job seekers.
“To this effect, members of the public should be weary of the activities of recruitment racketeers who may want to take advantage of unsuspecting job seekers to rob them of their hard-earned resources,” the Board warned.
