The Ogun State House of Assembly has summoned 17 individuals allegedly involved in illegal land grabbing and unlawful sales of government land, warning that failure to honour the invitation would attract arrests.

The Assembly, through its Committee on Lands and Housing, chaired by Hon. Damilola Soneye, re-invited eight persons accused of illegally selling portions of land belonging to the Ogun State Housing Corporation at Ibido Community, Sagamu Estate in Sagamu Local Government Area.

Those expected to appear include Mr. Emmanuel Osho, Mr. Folabi Osho, Mr. Moshood Lawal Keji, Mr. Owodunni Sodipo, Mr. Adeyiga Jeje Lambo, Mr. Abiodun Soneye, Mr. Tikare and Mr. Hammed Sodipe.

The House Committee explained that the invitation followed the refusal of the accused persons to honour previous summons, adding that if they fail to appear on Thursday, June 26 at 12 noon, the Assembly would not hesitate to issue arrest warrants in line with Section 129 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

In the same vein, another set of nine individuals accused of land grabbing activities at the Housing Corporation’s Itanrin Estate in Ijebu-Ode were also summoned to appear before the Committee.

The alleged land grabbers, known locally as “Omo Onile,” include Mr. Sikiru Shittu Onakoya, Mr. Ismail Onakoya, Mr. Azeez Shittu Onakoya, Mr. Tunde Onakoya, Alhaji Olukorede Baoku, Mr. Adeleke Yekeen Abu, Alhaji Ikililu Alawiye, Chief Akeem Abajo and Mr. Adegunwa Kunle Oluwatosin.

They are to appear before the Committee on Thursday, June 26, 2025, by 1pm to answer to allegations of illegal encroachment on government land.

The Committee warned that if they fail to honour the invitation, the Assembly will invoke constitutional powers to issue warrants for their arrest to compel their appearance.
