Rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has appealed to Omoyele Sowore to join the political coalition being formed ahead of the next general elections, saying politics is a game of numbers and not just about principles or activism.

Adeyanju, in an open message to the Sahara Reporters publisher, said while he recognizes Sowore’s ideological stance and consistency over the years, the current realities demand strategic decisions that may not always align with rigid political ideals.

He said, “Dear Egbon Omoyele Sowore, I know you are different and unlike the thieving Nigerian politicians, but please consider joining the coalition sir. Forget about what people will say concerning your long-lasting principles and ideological values. Extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures.”

Adeyanju emphasized that Sowore’s legacy as an uncompromising figure is already well established, adding that Nigerians will respect him even more if he takes the painful but necessary step of joining the coalition for the greater good.

“Everyone already knows that you are different and have nothing to prove to critics who will never like you anyway because of their preferred candidates. Politics is different from morality and activism; it’s a game of numbers,” he added.

The activist further pointed out that even religious institutions are not devoid of internal contradictions, saying, “Even in churches, there are witches and wizards.”

Adeyanju stressed that his call comes from a place of love and respect for Sowore, whether or not he chooses to accept the proposal.
