The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to ensure that government agencies under his administration follow due process in all their operations.

The council warned that any action perceived as targeting opposition members could damage the administration’s public image.

The appeal was made in a statement released on Monday by the council and signed by its chairman, Abayomi Sanyaolu, following recent events suggesting that some government agencies may be acting in ways that portray the governor as anti-opposition.

IPAC emphasized that strict adherence to the rule of law is essential to prevent misunderstandings and preserve public trust.

According to the council, every government agency must operate within legal frameworks to avoid giving the impression of bias.

“Governor Abiodun must ensure that all government agencies act within the law and avoid giving the impression of witch-hunting opposition members.”

“Public perception is critical, and any action that undermines neutrality could erode trust in governance,” the statement said.

The council noted that the proper execution of government directives is a vital component of good governance. Failure to follow due process, IPAC added, could be misinterpreted as political vendetta against opposition parties.

IPAC further called on government agencies to fully respect court orders, describing this as a crucial step toward maintaining transparency and accountability in governance.

The council however warned that disregard for legal processes could weaken citizens’ confidence in the administration.

“Observing due process is not optional; it is fundamental for strengthening public confidence and upholding the integrity of the state government,” the release added.

IPAC reiterated that all actions by government agencies should reflect fairness and neutrality.

It would be recalled that the Ogun State government had served a quit and demolition notice on the Asoludero Court, the Conference Hotels, and its annex in the Sagamu Government Reserved Area, belonging to the former governor and senator representing Ogun East at the National Assembly, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

The government stated that the buildings contravened the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022 and its subsidiary regulations.

Reacting, Daniel accused Governor Abiodun of using the law to demolish buildings that were legally constructed before the law came into existence.
