The Osun State Government has launched Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service designed to give residents, students, businesses, and communities easier access to the digital world.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the initiative was rolled out through the Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy Office under the Office of the Special Adviser.

The project, he noted, is part of the state’s effort to expand digital access and create opportunities across education, business, healthcare, and community life.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, while speaking at the unveiling, described Imole Wi-Fi as a “gateway to opportunity,” stressing that the infrastructure would remove barriers, connect people, and drive growth across every sector of Osun’s economy.

Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy, Azeez Badmus, added that the service marks the beginning of a broader digital push. “This is just the first step. As we expand Imole Wi-Fi, more government services and sector-specific tools will follow, ensuring that every resident benefits from Osun’s digital future,” he said.

The first phase of the project has been activated at strategic points, including the Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and offices of the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy.

Through the platform, students will be able to access online study resources, while job seekers and small businesses can apply for opportunities and conduct business seamlessly.

Hospitals and clinics are expected to benefit from telemedicine and digital records, while farmers can access real-time weather forecasts, pricing updates, and agricultural information.

Communities are also projected to enjoy better security through improved connectivity for emergency response and safety systems.

The state government said the Imole Wi-Fi initiative reflects its commitment to bridging the digital divide and supporting inclusive growth for all citizens.
