A motorcyclist has been confirmed dead after a speeding truck rammed into him at the Iyana Ilogbo end of the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway on Wednesday morning.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the crash occurred around 10 a.m.
He explained that the MAN Diesel truck with number plate EPE 513 YJ hit the red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with number plate WDE 403 VQ from behind.
Akinbiyi said police investigations revealed that the truck driver was at high speed when he lost control and crashed into the rider. He noted that the impact killed the motorcyclist on the spot.
In his words, “The crash was caused by excessive speed on the part of the MAN Diesel truck which hit the motorcyclist from behind. The presumed dead was deposited in the Ifo General Hospital morgue, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor.”
Officials of TRACE and the police visited the scene before the remains were evacuated.
The deceased had yet to be identified at the time of filing this report.
