Delta State’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has taken a swipe at Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church following Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ 2-0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Adejobi, a former Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, shared a post on his Facebook page shortly after the match, sarcastically questioning the relevance of the cleric’s earlier prophecy concerning the national team’s performance. “Where is that prophecy against the Super Eagles… shiooo,” he wrote.
Ahead of the tournament, Primate Ayodele had issued a series of predictions suggesting possible challenges for the Super Eagles, including early elimination, and advised certain measures to avoid setbacks. However, Nigeria’s team has so far defied those forecasts, delivering convincing performances at every stage, most recently defeating Algeria to secure a semi-final spot.
The cleric, known for making forecasts on sports, politics, and national affairs, often sparks debate and public scrutiny, with many Nigerians questioning the accuracy of his prophecies.
Adejobi’s post quickly gained traction online, with fans and social media users interpreting it as a direct rebuttal to Ayodele’s earlier warnings.
The Super Eagles will now face their semi-final opponent, carrying the momentum of their spirited performances and defying predictions that had cast doubt on their progress in the tournament.
