The Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture has congratulated the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, on the hosting of the 39th Lisabi Day anniversary, describing the celebration as a symbol of unity, courage and cultural pride among the Egba people.

The commendation was contained in a press release issued on Thursday by the Director-General of the chamber, Alhaji Abdur Rahman Maku, in Abeokuta.

ABEOCCIMA noted that this year’s Lisabi Day marked another significant milestone in preserving the rich cultural heritage of Egbaland, adding that the annual event remains a solemn but joyous commemoration of the legendary warlord, Lisabi Ladeji Agbongbo Akala, who led the liberation of the Egba people from the old Oyo Empire.

The chamber stated, “Lisabi Day is not merely a festival of drums and dance; it is a profound reminder of the power of unity and the courage to stand for one’s freedom.”

It also praised the Alake for his leadership and commitment to peace and development in Egbaland.

“We join sons and daughters of Egbaland across the globe in honouring the Alake’s tireless efforts in maintaining peace and promoting economic development in the ancient kingdom,” the statement added.

ABEOCCIMA further explained that the celebration continued to strengthen the bond among the four major sections of Egbaland, namely Ake, Gbagura, Oke-Ona and Owu, while also creating opportunities for economic activities and local trade.

Highlighting the broader significance of the festival, the chamber said, “The unity of the Egba people remains the foundation of their progress, and Lisabi Day continues to reinforce that shared identity and purpose.”

The organisation, however, called on Nigerians to emulate the virtues of selflessness and courage demonstrated by Lisabi, urging citizens to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.

“As the Egba nation celebrates this 39th edition, we pray for the continued health and longevity of His Royal Majesty, and we urge all Nigerians to draw inspiration from Lisabi’s legacy by working towards unity and national growth,” the statement concluded.
