Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development, revealing that his government has constructed over 1,000 kilometers of roads since assuming office in 2019.

Speaking at the commissioning of the 3.12-kilometer Oke-Erinja-Ilobi Road in Yewa South Local Government Area, the governor described the project as a “pathway to progress and economic development.” He assured residents that the road would not stop at Oke-Erinja but would be extended to Ilobi to fully connect the communities.

“This project marks another historic moment in our journey of development. We are not only focused on urban roads; we also prioritize rural roads because they are the backbone of our food supply chain. Our rural communities are our food baskets, and connecting them to markets is essential for food security,” Abiodun said.

He emphasized that the Ilobi and Oke-Erinja communities play a crucial role in the state’s agricultural production, making the construction of their roads a priority.

“I have heard it repeatedly that the people of Erinja and Ilobi are like Siamese twins, and I will not separate them. Let me assure you, we will complete the road to Ilobi,” he pledged.

Governor Abiodun further disclosed that his administration would award the contract for the Sango-Ijoko-Akute road this week, stressing its importance as a 17-kilometer strategic route connecting Ogun West to Ogun Central and Lagos.

“All our efforts on the Akute-Ajuwon, Alagbole-Ajuwon, and Giwa-Oke-Aro roads will be meaningless if we do not complete the Sango-Ijoko-Akute road. This is a major arterial road, and we are fully committed to its construction,” he said.

He also noted ongoing work on other major projects, including the Ota-Ifo-Abeokuta road and the Interchange-Papalanto-Obelle road, which is being constructed through a tax credit arrangement with business magnate Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

“Very soon, I will inspect the Interchange-Papalanto-Obelle road with Alhaji Dangote to ensure its timely completion. We are determined to ease transportation challenges across the state,” the governor assured.

Governor Abiodun also highlighted the progress on the Agbara-Atan-Lusada road, which has seen one section completed, significantly easing movement along the industrial corridor.

“People doubted that we could reconstruct this road, but today, one section is completed, and by God’s grace, the remaining section will be finished soon,” he declared.

The Olu of Ilaro and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, commended the governor for prioritizing Ogun West in his administration’s development agenda.

“Governor Abiodun has done exceedingly well for our people. However, we appeal to him to extend the Erinja road to Ilobi to further enhance economic activities in our region,” the monarch urged.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, emphasized the significance of the newly commissioned road, noting that it would improve accessibility to the Nigeria Police Training College and stimulate economic growth in the area.

“This road was in a deplorable state before reconstruction. Its completion will bring great relief to residents and businesses in this axis,” Akinsanya noted.

Governor Abiodun reassured residents that his administration would continue to deliver on its promises, ensuring that infrastructure projects reach every part of the state.
