The Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, has attributed the sustained peace and stability being enjoyed across the state to the deliberate policies and strategic interventions of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Akinmade stated this on Tuesday while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta on the achievements of the Abiodun administration over the last seven years, describing peace as one of the administration’s most significant accomplishments.
According to him, the governor’s commitment to security, social harmony and inclusive development has created an enabling environment for economic growth, infrastructure expansion and increased investments across the state.
He said, “One thing you cannot take away from this administration is the peace and stability that we are enjoying in Ogun State. Anywhere you go in the state, you can breathe the air of freedom, safety and peace.
“This did not happen by accident. It is the result of deliberate government policies and sustained efforts aimed at creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive, investments can flourish and citizens can live productively.”
Akinmade noted that the peaceful atmosphere in the state has continued to attract both local and foreign investors, leading to the establishment of new industries and the expansion of existing businesses.
He disclosed that Ogun State’s economy has grown from about N3tn to N17tn under Governor Abiodun’s leadership, positioning the state among the fastest-growing economies in the country.
The governor’s aide explained that the administration’s ISEYA development agenda has provided the framework for the delivery of critical infrastructure, improved social services, quality education, youth and women empowerment, and enhanced agricultural productivity.
Highlighting achievements in the infrastructure sector, Akinmade said the administration had constructed, reconstructed and rehabilitated more than 1,700 kilometres of roads across the 20 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the road projects have improved connectivity, boosted economic activities and enhanced the quality of life of residents.
He also pointed to the development of housing estates in major towns across the state, saying the projects were designed to cater for different categories of residents and support the growing population driven by economic activities.
Speaking on aviation infrastructure, Akinmade described the state airport as a world-class facility equipped with modern technology, noting that it recently facilitated the airlift of Ogun pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
He further said the administration had recorded notable achievements in agriculture, Information and Communication Technology, skills acquisition and empowerment programmes targeted at youths and women.
Akinmade cited the establishment of the Ogun TechHub as one of the administration’s strategic investments in technology and innovation, aimed at nurturing a new generation of digitally skilled youths.
He also commended Governor Abiodun for completing several abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations, saying the move reflected prudent management of public resources and a commitment to ensuring that beneficial projects were not left uncompleted.
The Special Adviser maintained that the governor had surpassed expectations in governance and service delivery and remained focused on leaving Ogun State in a better condition before the expiration of his tenure on May 29, 2027.
“Governor Abiodun is committed to consolidating on the gains already recorded and ensuring that the state continues on the path of peace, prosperity and sustainable development. His goal is to leave Ogun State better, stronger and more competitive than he met it,” Akinmade added.
