Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the sum of N633,918,000 for the payment of West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) registration fees for 23,048 public secondary school students in the state.
According to the statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the payment will cover students who passed the Joint Senior Secondary School II Promotion Examination, conducted by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology in the state.
The intervention is aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and guardians, ensuring that no eligible student is hindered from writing the examination due to financial constraints.
Over the years, the Ondo State Government’s decision to fund WASSCE registration has provided significant relief to parents, particularly in the face of economic challenges.
A government official who spoke on the initiative described it as a testament to Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to education.
“The governor remains dedicated to ensuring that no child is left behind due to financial difficulties. His administration is determined to invest in the future of Ondo State by supporting students at critical academic stages,” the official stated.
