Aletheia University in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Olukayode Dewunmi Akinyemi, as its new Vice-Chancellor.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations at FUNAAB, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide.
He confirmed that the appointment takes immediate effect, describing Prof. Akinyemi as a dedicated scholar with a solid career in Solid Earth Physics and Geophysics.
According to Mr. Olajide, “Prof. Akinyemi has shown excellence throughout his academic journey and administrative roles. His appointment as Vice-Chancellor is a clear recognition of his commitment to scholarship and leadership.”
He noted that the professor currently chairs FUNAAB’s Employability and Benchmarking Committee and is well respected across the academic community.
Mr. Olajide added, “He is a Fellow of the Indian Society of Earth Sciences and the Nigerian Institute of Physics. He is also a member of the American Geophysical Union, which reflects his global professional relevance.”
He explained that Prof. Akinyemi’s elevation continues the rising profile of FUNAAB scholars who are taking on leadership roles across universities in Nigeria.
“Only recently, Prof. Flora Tobolayefa Oluwafemi became Vice-Chancellor of Nigeria Maritime University in Delta State. Prof. Mufutau Olaoye Atayese was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies in Iragbiji, and Prof. Adekojo Waheed was named Vice-Chancellor of the British Canadian University in Calabar,” he said.
