Yola – The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman (North-East), Comrade Mustapha Salihu, has refuted claims that the ruling party is using inducements to attract opposition members, stressing that the party’s commitment to fighting corruption remains uncompromising.
Speaking to journalists at his residence in Yola on Saturday night, Salihu described such allegations as “cheap blackmail” aimed at undermining the progress of the APC at the national level.
“I can tell you that those joining our party, or even those already in our party who are found wanting, will not escape prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),” he said, emphasizing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has zero tolerance for corrupt practices.
Salihu challenged anyone with credible information on APC members involved in corruption to file a petition. “I assure you that the party will investigate and prosecute the individual if found guilty,” he stated.
He added that several APC chieftains had already entered plea bargains and were returning stolen funds. “Anyone who stole money will be prosecuted, whether you are in APC, another party, or a public servant. This administration has zero tolerance for corruption,” Salihu stressed.
On the party’s performance ahead of the 2027 elections, Salihu said the APC has achieved significant milestones, explaining why opposition figures are reportedly considering joining the party to consolidate the gains of the Tinubu administration.
Regarding rumours of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri defecting to the APC, Salihu said political negotiations are not conducted on television or in newspapers.
“Our job in APC is to woo everyone into the party. I will be happy if Fintiri joins my party today,” he said.
He further emphasized the democratic principle that everyone is free to join any political group.
“If he comes to APC, good. If he does not, I wish him well—but I will not wish him good luck,” he added.
