Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring the ruling party a failure in governance, security, and the economy.
He claimed that the party has been abandoned by God, leading to widespread disappointment among Nigerians.
Speaking in Osogbo after concluding the ADC’s federal constituency tours of Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu and Irepodun, Aregbesola urged Nigerians to reject APC in the 2027 elections.
“Those in government now tried their best, but God is not with them because they didn’t start with God,” he said. He described the party as selfish, saying it prioritized individual gain over collective progress.
He further accused the APC-led administration of using unfair tactics during elections and failing in nearly every sector.
“The economy is in dire straits, insecurity is ravaging the country, and governance is lacking. There is no sector where they have not failed,” Aregbesola stated.
Promoting his party as a viable alternative, he said, “The African Democratic Congress is poised to liberate the people and make life more abundant for the masses. We promise a government of vision, mission, and direction.”
Following the tour, Aregbesola led ADC officials to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, for a courtesy visit, where he was commended as a good leader.
Responding to Aregbesola’s remarks, Osun State APC Director of Media Kola Olabisi questioned the former minister’s criticism.
“At what point did APC fail? He was governor for eight years and minister for four years through the benevolence of this same party. He is attacking himself,” Olabisi said.
