The Nigerian Army has recorded another success in its fight against terrorism following a well-coordinated operation in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) rescued three civilians abducted by terrorists and neutralised five of the attackers without sustaining any casualties.
The Theatre Command Spokesman, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, disclosed that the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) at a known terrorist crossing along the Sojiri axis.
“In the early hours of 4 January 2026, troops engaged terrorists at a known crossing point along the Sojiri axis. The operation resulted in the neutralisation of five terrorists without any casualties to our troops, demonstrating the effectiveness and professionalism of the security forces,” he said.
Lt. Col. Uba added that AK-47 rifles were recovered during the operation. “Importantly, the troops successfully rescued three hostages abducted by the terrorists,” he said.
He emphasized that the operation underscored the army’s dual commitment to offensive action against terrorist elements and the protection of civilians, while highlighting the value of cooperation with local security partners.
The military operation in Borno coincided with another offensive that targeted bandits responsible for attacks in Kano State.
Troops of the joint task force successfully repelled assaults on Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers.
Fleeing bandits were tracked into Karaduwa Village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, where precision air strikes delivered what the army described as a decisive blow.
The army noted that aerial Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions supported the operation, allowing for accurate targeting and the neutralisation of threats.
“The morale of our troops remains high, and security forces continue to maintain dominance across the theatre despite the dynamic security environment,” Lt. Col. Uba said.
