Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has called for a tougher response to banditry, insisting that armed groups responsible for killings, kidnappings and attacks on communities should be treated as terrorists and eliminated.
The governor made the remarks during an interview on Wednesday, where he argued that bandits had forfeited any right to leniency because of the atrocities they had committed against innocent Nigerians.
Sani said the persistent killing of residents and abduction of women and children by bandits underscored the need for security agencies to take decisive action against them.
“Bandits are terrorists. I don’t believe they deserve a second chance because, in my opinion, they are terrorists,” the governor said.
He maintained that individuals who deliberately take lives and destroy communities should not be spared.
“When you call them terrorists, it means they are people who have killed innocent citizens. Certainly, they have no right to live; they must be eliminated,” he stated.
The governor further stressed that the protection of law-abiding citizens should remain the primary responsibility of government, noting that those involved in terror attacks must face the full force of security operations.
“A terrorist is a terrorist. He can kill, he can destroy and, as such, should be killed,” Sani added.
