The Shira Local Government Council of Bauchi State has removed its chairman, Abdullahi Beli, and his deputy, Usman Adamu, from office over allegations of financial mismanagement and abuse of office.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the council leadership, led by Wali Adamu. According to resolution number SLGLC 003, the council’s investigative committee found both officials guilty of gross misconduct, financial mismanagement, dereliction of duty, and breach of public trust.
The statement read, “This Council hereby removes the Chairman (Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Beli) and his deputy, Hon. Usman Adamu, from office as Chairman and Vice Chairman of Shira Local Government, respectively, effective immediately from today.”
Further justifying their removal, the council stated, “The removal of the Chairman and his deputy is based on the findings of the investigation committee, which has established that they were engaged in financial mismanagement, failed to perform their duties, breached the trust placed in them, and abused their office.”
It added that the offices of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Shira Local Government had been declared vacant with immediate effect.
