Elder statesman and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has fired back at former Lagos gubernatorial candidate, Adediran Olajide, popularly known as Jandor, over allegations of anti-party activities.

Jandor, who recently resigned from the PDP, had accused some party leaders, including George, of sabotaging his candidacy and working against him during the 2023 governorship election in Lagos State.

However, George, while speaking during an interview on Eagle 102.5 FM’s Frontline program, dismissed Jandor’s claims, branding him as politically inexperienced and undeserving of the party’s ticket.

“I am in my 80s, and he is a child,” George said. “This little rat that you are talking about, what does he know about this party? It is an insult, absolute rubbish. My children are much older than him, and responding to him would be an infradig, a complete waste of time.”

Jandor Had No Political Credentials, Says George

The former military governor of Ondo State questioned how Jandor, whom he described as lacking proper political experience, was allowed to emerge as the PDP’s flagbearer.

He lamented that a more qualified candidate, Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), had to step down despite having a stronger background and better credentials.

“Somebody I respect recommended him, but he competed against a highly experienced, well-educated candidate, a graduate of MIT, from a well-respected family, who had previously contested in the Lagos West Senatorial District, which covers 50% of Lagos,” George stated. “GRV would have beaten him black, blue, yellow, and green if not for the compromise.”

He further alleged that Jandor, upon securing the ticket, ignored initial agreements and went ahead to select Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his running mate without proper consultation.

Reacting to Jandor’s accusations that he worked against the PDP in the elections, George refused to give a direct response but hinted at a major wrongdoing committed by Jandor.

“This clown just came into the party and has never even contested for or held a position at the ward level,” he said. “He committed an unforgivable sin, and what he got was the reward he deserved. What you sow, you will reap.”

George, however, declined to reveal the nature of the alleged sin, instead stating that he would leave it to Dr. Seye Dairo to disclose it to the public at the appropriate time.

Recall on March 4, 2025, Jandor announced his resignation from the PDP, citing internal sabotage, anti-party activities, and a lack of discipline within the party.

He claimed that some leaders viewed his candidacy as a threat and actively worked against him.

He specifically accused PDP State Chairman Philip Aivoji of issuing false statements about his withdrawal from the election and alleged that Bode George openly supported the candidate of another party while discouraging voters from choosing the PDP.

Refuting the notion that Jandor’s defection was a betrayal of the “Not Too Young to Run” movement, George insisted that political leadership should not be based on favoritism but on justice, fairness, and equity.

“Politics should not be mixed with ‘politricks,’” he stated. “A political party or nation should stand on three things: justice, fairness, and equity—not sentiments and lack of political orientation.”
