The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Adeola, APC, Ogun West, has called on Nigerians, particularly Christians, to use the Christmas season to reaffirm their faith in Jesus Christ and pray for a better and more prosperous Nigeria anchored on peace, unity, and national renewal.

In a Christmas message issued on Tuesday by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, and made available to journalists in Abuja, the lawmaker urged Nigerians to look beyond celebration and embrace sober reflection and prayers for the country’s future, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu is beginning to yield positive outcomes.

Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, described Christmas as the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, which signifies hope, salvation, and a new dawn for humanity, especially for Christians.

He said the season should remind Nigerians of the promise of a better future built on faith, sacrifice, and collective responsibility.

“I want to urge all Christian faithful not to use the occasion of the 2025 Christmas celebration for merry making only, but to also use it as a period of sober reflection and supplication to God Almighty for a better, peaceful, and prosperous future,” the senator said.

He pointed to emerging economic indicators as signs that recent reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda are beginning to make an impact. According to him, these include the strengthening and stabilisation of the naira, as well as a downward movement in the prices of petrol and some basic food items.

Adeola also cited improvements in inflation figures, stating that inflation had dropped from about 38 percent earlier in the year to 14.45 percent last month, while food inflation declined to 11.08 percent.

He urged Nigerians to sustain prayers for the consolidation of these gains and for broader economic recovery.

While acknowledging that many Nigerians are still facing socio economic challenges due to long standing local and global factors, the senator encouraged citizens not to lose hope, stressing that faith, patience, and unity remain critical to overcoming the current difficulties.

“With abiding faith in Jesus Christ, all our challenges will become things of the past, with the restoration of desired economic growth, peace, security, and poverty reduction,” Adeola added.

The senator wished Nigerians a peaceful Christmas celebration and expressed optimism that the coming year would usher in renewed hope and improved living conditions across the country.
