Founder and Coordinator of The SixthSense Initiative, Abiodun Lasile, has emphasized that collective responsibility remains a critical pillar for building a stronger, more equitable, and prosperous nation.
Speaking on the role of shared values and active participation in national development, Lasile described collective responsibility as the foundation of meaningful progress in any society.
According to him, “When individuals, communities, and institutions converge towards a shared vision, the outcome is nothing short of transformative. This synergy yields shared progress, increased accountability, improved social cohesion, and more effective problem-solving.”
He stressed that acknowledging personal contributions to the greater good fosters ownership and accountability among citizens. “By acknowledging our individual roles in contributing to the greater good, we cultivate a sense of responsibility that propels positive change and development,” he explained.
Outlining the pillars of collective responsibility, Lasile highlighted civic engagement, social cohesion, economic empowerment, environmental stewardship, accountability, education, and community development as crucial to nation-building.
He said, “Active participation in democratic processes, supporting local businesses, protecting natural resources, and holding leaders accountable all contribute to creating a nation that is stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous for all.”
Lasile further maintained that investing in initiatives that support marginalized groups would help bridge inequalities in society, while education and awareness would empower citizens to demand their rights and make informed decisions.
“This collective ethos is the bedrock upon which a stronger, more equitable, and prosperous nation is built,” he concluded.
