Anxiety is growing in Igbajo, Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State, following reports that the Owa of Igbajo, Oba Adegboyega Famodun, has been hospitalized over an undisclosed health issue.
Oba Famodun, who previously served as Osun State APC Chairman, was first installed during the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
His tenure faced disruption when Governor Ademola Adeleke removed him through an executive order, appointing Oba Ademola Makinde in his place.
The monarch was later reinstated in January 2025 by the Osun State High Court, a decision currently under appeal.
A source confirmed to The Nation that Oba Famodun was rushed to a hospital in Abuja after his condition reportedly worsened on Friday evening.
The news has intensified concerns within the Igbajo community.
When reached for comment, the Oluomo of Igbajo, Chief Sunday Akere, said the royal family is overseeing the monarch’s care.
“The princes are the ones who can give you more information about our king,” he stated, declining further comment.
The situation has left residents and well-wishers anxious as they await updates on the health of the embattled traditional ruler.
