Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on financial institutions operating within the state to deepen their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), stressing that their relevance should be measured not only in profits but in their positive social impact.

Governor Abiodun made the charge on Friday while commissioning the new Abeokuta branch of Premium Trust Bank located at Oke-Ilewo.

He praised the bank for aligning with national and state development initiatives, particularly in sports and youth empowerment.

“Let what Premium Trust Bank is doing serve as a blueprint for your Corporate Social Responsibility.”

“It must not be an afterthought, but a core pillar of your operational philosophy. Whether in supporting small-scale enterprises, education, healthcare, or environmental sustainability, your relevance would be defined not just by profitability alone, but by social impact,” Abiodun declared.

He applauded the bank’s role in sponsoring national sports events, including the 2022 National Sports Festival in Delta and the ongoing Gateway Games in Ogun, describing it as a commendable example of private sector contribution to public good.

The governor emphasized that the arrival of more financial institutions in the state’s capital marks a significant milestone in his administration’s economic drive.

“The presence of banks like this in our state capital is a testimony to the successful implementation of our ISEYA development agenda. It reflects our drive to bridge rural-urban gaps and promote synergy across agriculture, manufacturing, and service sectors,” he noted.

Abiodun added that Premium Trust Bank’s entrance into the Ogun market would enhance financial inclusion and bolster the state’s economic base.

“We are ready to work with credible investors who share our vision of building a prosperous Ogun State,” he said.

Speaking at the event, the Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola, acknowledged the steady industrial growth of the state under Abiodun’s leadership.

“This administration has made Ogun attractive for investors by providing a conducive business environment. I believe more reforms will follow with financial institutions like Premium Trust Bank coming on board,” the monarch stated.

Director General of the National Sports Commission, Mr. Bukola Olopade, also lauded the bank, saying, “Premium Trust Bank stood by us during the bidding for the sports festival and has since taken the lead in sponsorship, endorsing athletes and promoting national unity through sports.”

In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Trust Bank, Mr. Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, described the Abeokuta branch opening as a major milestone.

“We are proud to be part of Ogun State’s growth story. In just three years, we have expanded to 22 branches nationwide. As the lead sponsor of the Gateway Games, we are committed to driving inclusive growth and supporting indigenes through a tailored digital financial platform,” he affirmed.
