The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six count charge against social media influencer and blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as @justadetoun, over alleged cyberbullying and publication of false information against the Ogun State Government and the Governor.
The development was disclosed in a press release issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
According to the Police, the charges, now pending before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court, arose from alleged repeated use of social media and other internet enabled platforms by the suspect to spread false accusations and engage in acts said to contravene provisions of the Cybercrimes Act.
The Command stated that Onajobi was invited for questioning on January 2, 2026, to respond to allegations linked to her online activities. However, she reportedly failed to honour the invitation, claiming through her lawyer that she was medically indisposed.
Police said a medical report submitted to support the claim was later found to be false following discreet investigations. The doctor who allegedly issued the report was arrested and subsequently confessed that the document was fabricated at the instruction of the suspect during a phone conversation facilitated by her lawyer.
The doctor has since been arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges bordering on conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstruction of justice.
The Police added that Adetoun Onajobi has remained evasive and has continued to ignore police invitations, adding that her current whereabouts are unknown.
While reaffirming its commitment to tackling all forms of crime, including digital offences, the Command noted that freedom of expression, though constitutionally guaranteed, does not shield individuals from criminal liability.
The Police further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track other suspects allegedly connected to the dissemination of the false information, stressing that all lawful means would be employed to apprehend the blogger and produce her before the court to answer the charges filed against her.
