Delta State Police have rescued seven boys held against their will by a notorious cybercrime gang known as Hustlers Kingdom in Warri, arresting two suspects in the process.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the operation followed a complaint from one of the victims on November 17, who revealed that he had been lured into the gang’s apartment under false pretenses.
The complainant explained that members of the gang would flog victims with a cane whenever they failed to secure paying clients. “You need to see the boy’s back,” Edafe said, describing the brutality.
Operatives of the Quick Response Squad responded promptly, storming the apartment and freeing the seven victims.
The two arrested suspects, who identified themselves as “chairmen,” admitted their involvement in internet fraud, commonly known as “Yahoo.”
A video released by the police showed the gang’s implements, including bundles of canes, laptops, and mobile phones, used in their operations.
Two of the rescued boys, aged 28 and 23, recounted being starved and physically assaulted by the suspects, with visible injuries confirming their statements.
The police assured that the suspects would face prosecution and urged the public to report any similar cases to help combat cybercrime and protect vulnerable youths from exploitation.
